We converted the attic space of this home into a Master Bedroom Suite and Den. We also did some kitchen updating for the clients while we were working in their home. We tried hard to maintain the architectural character of the existing structure in its older established neighborhood. It was challenging to relocate a steep and narrow staircase that provided more functional access from the 1st floor to the new 2nd story space. We also put a lot of planning into transferring the 2nd story loads and lateral balancing through the 1st floor and basement levels, and provided drainage and water proofing to the formerly “wet” basement.
